  • How do I add my green company to Green-England.co.uk?
You can submit your organisation to our database by going to www.green-england.co.uk/site/login and filling in the form there. To maximise your chances of inclusion, ensure that your details are correct, and the description of your company is accurate, well presented and has correct spelling and punctuation. We will then visit your website and, if necessary, contact you to ensure that you meet the criteria to be added to Green-England.co.uk.

Can I recommend someone else's company?
You certainly can. We are constantly trawling the web looking for green and ethical organisations to add to the site. If you know of a company that you think we should list, please contact us. Alternatively, contact the company themselves and ask them to submit their details to the site.

I don't think one of the companies on Green-England.co.uk is green enough - what can I do?
We do our upmost to ensure that all entries on Green-England.co.uk meet the highest standards in terms of ethical behaviour and environmental impact. If you think that a company on our site does not meet these standards, please contact us and let us know. We will investigate and, if necessary, remove the company from the database.

How do I edit my company's entry?
Only the owner or a representative of a company may edit that company's entry. To do this, go to the log in page, enter your email address and password, and update your details. If you do not have, or have forgotten, your username or password, please contact us.

Why has my company not been added to the database?
Green-England.co.uk retain full editorial control of the database, and have the right to amend, remove or reject any organisation's entry at any time. This may happen if we have reason to doubt a company's green credentials, or if information in their entry is found to be incorrect. If your company's entry has been removed or amended and you are not happy with the result, please contact us and we will give you a full explanation.

    Who are Green-England.co.uk?
Green-England.co.uk was set up by Rob Percival and Penny Ritson in order to provide a comprehensive directory of organisations which provide environmentally friendly, organic and fairtrade products and services. We set up this site because we are both concerned consumers, careful to spend our money at companies which care about the same things that we care about. Our aim is to make it easier for people to buy green products and organise green days out and holidays.

We work hard to keep the directory accurate, relevant and up to date. If you would like to know more about us and our philosophy, or would like to get involved in any way, please please contact us and let us know.

    What is your privacy policy?
All the information we hold about an organisation, apart from their personal email address and password, is displayed publically on Green-England.co.uk. This information is not shared with other organisations, and is stored on our secure database, and backed up offline. If you have any questions about our privacy policy, please contact us.

    How are you funded?
Maintaining and expanding the Green-England.co.uk database takes a huge amount of time. We do not receive public or private funding, and all our income comes from advertising on the site itself.

    How can I help?
If you would like to volunteer to help us build the green directory, please contact us and we will give you full details of how you can help.

A detail on one of the entries on Green-England.co.uk is incorrect - what should I do?
We do all we can to ensure that all the information on Green-England.co.uk is correct and up to date. If you think we have made a mistake, please contact us and let us know.

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that the information is 100% correct - the data is provided as is, and you should confirm any important details with the specific organisation.

How can I create a great listing on Green England?
Here are our top tips on creating a successful entry on Green England.

    Add a picture
Profiles with pictures receive considerably higher clickthrough rates - an image makes the profile look much more attractive (and a click on the image will go straight through to your website).

    Link back to us
We reward those who link back to us by boosting their entry in the directory listings. Put a link to us on your site, and tell us about it in the 'reciprocal link' box on your edit page, and more users will find their way to your website.

    Improve your full description
The full description can be as long as you want. A full, detailed, description will give users a better idea of what your company does. It will also mean that your entry appears more often in searches (see below).

Include your key products in your description
When users search the site, they are searching the text in your entries. If they search for 'nappies' and your description does not contain the word nappies, your entry will not appear in their search results. So make sure that you mention all your products and key words in your full description.

Make your brief description clear and concise
Your brief description is likely to be the first thing that a user reads about your company. Make sure it clearly explains what your company does, and what sort of products you sell.

Make the full description text different to text on your website
As many of you will have noticed, your Green England entry is likely to rank quite highly in Google when users search for your company or products (trying searching for 'inspired-earth.com' on Google's UK results). Your listing in Green England can therefore be another way of drawing potential customers to you through the search engines. This is a result of the advanced search engine optimisation we are implementing on the site. If Google detects that the text on your Green England page is exactly the same as that on your website, it will devalue the Green England version, which as a result will rank lower. Change the text here and there, or write a whole new entry, to avoid this problem.
