Chariband make a range of eco-friendly, re-usable bags in various designs, colours and styles, with all net profits going to charity.

CHARIBAND™ design & supply reusable eco bags, called ‘charibags’. They are not driven purely by profits but by social conscience. Glenda Kirby, the founder of CHARIBAND™ said “We would like to think our products inspire people to think more about others and our environment" CHARIBAND™ have been campaigning against plastic bags since 2006 and initially created South Yorkshires' own recyclable "designer" charibag with the proud slogans; "charibags help the environment" and "Sheffielders CARE"

THE STORY BEHIND ‘charibags’

Having a degree in Packaging Design, Glenda is aware that packaging plays an important role in marketing, physical protection, information and brand recognition but also the need for less packaging and environmentally sound alternatives to plastic bags. Unfortunately Glenda's son became ill last year and had to have a short stay in intensive care. This prompted CHARIBAND™ to develop the ‘charibag’ and donate all net profits to the hospital which had cared for her son. The bags sell from just £2.00 to £3.00 depending on style/design.

WHAT ARE ‘charibags’?

Charibags are made from non woven polypropylene. The fabric is strong, durable and 100% recyclable. Charibags are environmentally friendly and when discarded will decompose naturally and completely incinerates without any production of poisonous pollutant. It is water resistant, air permeable, fire resistant and non allergenic. CHARIBAND can design and supply ‘charibags’ in any style, colour or size.

HOW HAVE ‘charibags’ PROGRESSED?

Since the launch in November 2006 they have raised thousands of pounds for Sheffield Children's Hospital Charity, city schools and the South Yorkshire Flood Appeal. This will have helped to stop many thousands of plastic bags being used. The new brightly coloured range, “charibags help the environment" shoppers and mini bags are proving to be extremely popular with children, our next generation of shoppers!

WHAT ELSE HAS HAPPENED?

Nearly a year on and due to the overwhelming positive response and interest, charibags have gone from strength to strength. CHARIBAND are keen to spread the word as ‘charibags’ represent a strong branding opportunity for business and display concern for good causes and the environment. They hope by generating charibag orders from other organisations/charities, will in turn stop the unnecessary use of wasteful plastic bags and raise funds for good causes throughout the UK.
