Entry #3: Cleaning

I am now a complete convert to soap nuts and will not use anything else for my laundry (see previous blog)

I have also started using Bicarbonate of soda for cleaning the bathroom and kitchen. Its so simple, cheap and it works. How did we ever get into all the fancy cleaning products? This must be what our Mothers - or our Mother's Mother used - and for most of us its all got lost through time and marketing.

Just sprinkle a bit of Bicarbonate of soda in your sink - not too much or you will have a lot to get rid of. Scrub with a damp cloth and then rinse. Sparkling clean results! It works a treat on hobs cutting through grease and burnt on bits.

For the loo I use Borax. For the bowl - sprinkle and leave then clean with loo brush. For all surroundings sprinkle and clean with damp cloth.

Borax can be used in the laundry with whites to clean off stains if required.

I love the simplicity of going greener and cheapness.

Do let me know of your experiences in any area of going greener. Any tips gratefully received and we can all learn from each other.
