Organic Vegetables - should you bother?

If you look on all the organic vegetable sites they will all give good reasons for buying your vegetables organic. These are around taste, variety, locally grown or being fairly traded, no GM and no pesticide residues.

Enough compelling reasons you might think and you would be right. But also there is a sheer joy in having your vegetables delivered to your door from someone that knows all about them, knows where they come from and may well have sowed the seeds. Not knowing quite what you will get (ususally you can spoil the surprise by looking on the website if you want to) and wondering how you are going to cook what you get.

Becoming green means no waste, so it is more compelling to eat all the fruit and veg you get rather than plumping for pasta and sauce or other standbys when you have had a busy day at work.

Many of the vegetable delivery companies have recipes on their websites to help you use all your veg and they also welcome suggestions from their customers. Its all very friendly and warm and so much nicer than buying uniform and perfectly shaped produce from supermarkets that have travelled thousands of miles from unidentifiable growers.

So if you haven't already had some organic vegetables delivered - give it a try and experience the joy of original shaped veg, complete with mud residues, leaves and stalks, that taste delicious.
